Pathaan

Pathaan is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, the film marks Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the big screen after a four-year hiatus. The plot revolves around an Indian spy who battles a terrorist organization planning a major attack on India, featuring high-octane action sequences, international espionage, and a thrilling storyline. Pathaan became one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of all time, celebrated for its gripping action, stunning visuals, and Shah Rukh Khan’s dynamic performance.

The film also generated significant attention for its music, particularly the song "Besharam Rang," which sparked controversy prior to the film’s release. Despite facing boycott calls from certain groups, Pathaan broke multiple box office records domestically and internationally, earning acclaim for its cinematography, choreography, and intense narrative.

In December 2022, BOOM fact-checked a viral video claiming to show Pathans auctioning a woman on the street, implying a connection to the film.

BOOM found out that the video was actually of a street play conducted as a mock auction to raise awareness about the atrocities committed against women by the Islamic State. The video was misrepresented, having no connection to the film Pathaan.
