Surat

In September 2023, BOOM investigated a viral video showing people searching for diamonds on a street in Surat, which was shared with a misleading claim.

BOOM found that the video stemmed from rumors about a diamond merchant losing jewels on the street in the Varachha area of Surat. The video was shared out of context, with no confirmed reports of lost diamonds.

In March 2024, BOOM investigated a viral video falsely claimed to show an Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at the house of an AAP leader in Surat, Gujarat.

BOOM found that the video was actually from a previous ED raid on a businessman's premises in Kolkata, West Bengal, and had no connection to the AAP leader in Surat.
