Rajasthan is the largest state in India by area, located in the northwestern part of the country. Known for its rich history, royal heritage, and vibrant culture, it is home to iconic landmarks such as the Thar Desert, Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, and Lake Palace. The state has a diverse geography, from deserts in the west to lush hills in the Aravalli Range. Jaipur, the capital, is also known as the Pink City due to its distinct architectural style.

Rajasthan has a history of Rajput kingdoms, and its culture reflects a blend of folk traditions, music, dance, and colorful attire. The state celebrates traditional festivals like Gangaur, Teej, and the Pushkar Camel Fair, attracting tourists from all over the world.

The political landscape of Rajasthan is dominated by two major parties: the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In recent years, issues like water scarcity, law and order, agrarian distress, and unemployment have been central to political debates and elections. The current Chief Minister is from the INC, following the party's victory in the 2018 state elections.

In June 2017, BOOM fact-checked the emergence of fake Twitter accounts defending then Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje after her controversial tweet about Zafar Khan’s alleged lynching.

BOOM found that these accounts used false identities, aiming to mislead the public and manipulate the narrative surrounding the incident.
