Namaz

Namaz is the Arabic term for the Islamic practice of formal prayer, also known as Salah in Arabic. It is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, which are the core practices required of all Muslims. Namaz involves specific physical and verbal rituals, including standing, bowing, prostrating, and reciting verses from the Quran.

Muslims are required to perform Namaz five times a day at prescribed times: Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (midday), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night). Each prayer session is performed facing the Kaaba in Mecca, which is the holiest site in Islam. The prayers are intended to foster a sense of spirituality, discipline, and connection with God.

Namaz is performed both individually and in groups, with congregational prayers being particularly significant on Fridays and during special religious occasions like Eid. The Friday prayer, known as Jumu'ah, is especially important and is typically performed in a mosque with a sermon delivered by the imam.

In May 2023, BOOM investigated a viral video that was claimed to show a boy offering Namaz on the street in Karnataka.

BOOM found that the video was actually from the UAE, not Karnataka, and was being falsely circulated with misleading claims about its location.
