Google LLC is an American multinational technology company founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were PhD students at Stanford University. Headquartered in Mountain View, California, Google has evolved from being a search engine to a leading global player in technology, software development, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and hardware. It offers a wide range of products and services, including Google Search, Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, Google Drive, and the Android operating system.

Google’s core mission is to “organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” It remains the most popular search engine globally, processing billions of queries daily. Over the years, Google has expanded its portfolio to include AI advancements like Google Assistant, Google Translate, and the AI language model Bard. The company is also a leader in online advertising, primarily through Google Ads, which generates the majority of its revenue.

Google has ventured into hardware products as well, such as the Pixel line of smartphones, Google Nest smart home devices, and Chromebooks. The company is a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., formed in 2015 as part of a corporate restructuring to manage its various businesses and projects more effectively.

In September 2024, BOOM fact-checked a viral video claiming that Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, endorsed a platform called 'Google Invest.'

BOOM found out that the video was manipulated using AI voice-cloning technology to misrepresent Pichai’s voice, promoting a dubious investment app. The misleading video was created to deceive viewers, falsely associating Google with the unauthorized platform.
