Syria

Syria, officially the Syrian Arab Republic, is a country in the Middle East, bordered by Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, and Lebanon. Its capital, Damascus, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, reflecting Syria’s rich historical and cultural heritage. The country has been home to various ancient civilizations, including the Assyrians, Babylonians, Greeks, and Romans, contributing significantly to human history through trade, architecture, and cultural exchange.

Syria’s modern political landscape has been marked by instability and conflict. Since 2011, Syria has been engulfed in a brutal civil war that began as part of the Arab Spring uprisings. Initially a series of peaceful protests against President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, it escalated into a multi-faceted conflict involving various domestic factions, regional powers, and global players like the United States, Russia, Iran, and Turkey.
