Indian National Congress (INC)

The Indian National Congress (INC) is one of India's major political parties, alongside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It has historically been referred to as the Grand Old Party of India and has counted figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Indira Gandhi among its members. Since independence, the INC has been a dominant force in Indian politics, having been in power for over 50 of the last 70 years. It held power in every election from 1989 until the 2014 election, when the BJP won a majority of seats in the Lok Sabha, ending the INC's term.

Experts noted the manifesto's focus on policy assessment rather than specific redistribution plans. Additionally, Modi's claim about assets being redistributed to Muslims was debunked with data showing declining fertility rates among Muslims.

Another claim debunked by BOOM showed a video circulated online claiming that Rahul Gandhi specifically mentioned conducting a nationwide survey to determine the share owed to minorities in India. However, BOOM found that the video was doctored. In the original speech, Gandhi spoke about implementing a socio-economic and caste census to ascertain the contributions of various communities, including backward classes, Dalits, Adivasis, economically backward general castes, and minorities. The cropped video omitted Gandhi's reference to other communities. BOOM cross-referenced the original speech on Congress's official YouTube channel to verify the context and debunk the misinformation.
