AI-Made, Old Videos Shared As Building Collapse In Delhi's Satya Niketan
BOOM found that while one of the videos was generated using Google AI, the other shows the controlled demolition of a building that took place in 2017.

Two videos are currently viral on social media, claiming to show a residential building collapse in Delhi's Satya Niketan area that led to the deaths of multiple students.
BOOM found that the videos are unrelated to the recent tragedy. While one of the videos was generated using Google AI, the other shows the controlled demolition of an unauthorised building that took place in 2017.
At least seven people lost their lives and several others were injured after a building collapsed in Delhi's Satya Niketan area on September 6, 2026. Students in the area, while speaking to the media, alleged that ambulances and police reached the spot late despite multiple calls. The incident also prompted the Delhi High Court to order citywide inspections of Paying Guest (PG) accommodations.
The Claim
Congress shared the videos through its official X account, captioning them as, "The Satya Niketan Collapse Exposes The Reality Behind The Growth Claims".

What We Found: Videos Do Not Show Recent Building Collapse in Delhi
Video 1: We found the same video, which appears within the first three seconds of Congress's video, being shared in several other social media posts. However, when we tried to trace the origin of the video, we could not find it on any reliable source or in any news reports.
Taking a cue, we tested the video using multiple AI detection tools, including NVIDIA and Hive AI Detector, which indicated that the video contained AI-generated elements. A test using Google's AI detection tool, SynthID, further confirmed that the video was generated using Google AI.
Video 2: We further performed a reverse image search on a keyframe from the 40-second mark of the Congress video. The search showed that the footage is from 2017 and shows the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) demolishing an unauthorised four-storey building in Jasola Vihar, Delhi.
We also found video reports published by ABP News and India TV on November 10, 2017, reporting on the controlled demolition carried out by the MCD.
