Bhagwant Mann is an Indian politician and member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who has been serving as the Chief Minister of Punjab since 2022. Born in October 1973 in Satoj village, Sangrur district, Punjab, Mann is known for his background as a comedian and satirist. He transitioned into politics with a focus on tackling issues like corruption, education, and healthcare in Punjab. His tenure as Chief Minister has emphasized initiatives to improve governance, strengthen public services, and promote transparency across the state.
In March 2024, BOOM fact-checked a viral video that falsely claimed Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann was being detained by the police.
BOOM’s investigation revealed that the individual in the video was actually Punjab's Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, not CM Bhagwant Mann.
