134 New Cases Reported In Maharashtra, 1,895 Cases In The State Now
Sunday saw a spike in new cases, with 134 fresh cases reported in Maharashtra. The number of cases in the state now rise to 1,895, a state health official told PTI.
Pune reported two new deaths, bringing the death toll in the city to 31.
Jharkhand Death Toll Rises To 2
After the death of a 60-year-old man in Ranchi on Sunday, the COVID-19 death toll in Jharkhand has now risen to two. He reportedly came in contact with another COVID-19 patient in his area.
"He was admitted to a hospital two days ago after he exhibited symptoms of the disease. The 60-year-old's condition deteriorated, following which he was put on ventilator. He died this morning," Principal Secretary (Health) Nitin Madan Kulkarni told PTI.
827 New Cases, 37 New Deaths In The Country
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported 827 new cases and 37 new deaths in the country bringing the total number of cases to 8356 and deaths to 279.
On the other hand, over 715 people have also recovered from the virus.
Delhi and Maharashtra are the two states that have reported more than 1000 cases while Tamil Nadu is inching closer to 1000.
New deaths were reported in Gujarat, MP, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
India Reports 82 New Cases, 3 New Deaths
In its 5 PM update, the country recorded 82 new cases and three new deaths bringing the country's total to 7529 cases and 242 deaths. Deaths have been reported in Delhi and Telangana.
Maharashtra Announces Extension of Lockdown, Other States May FOllow
Maharashtra is the new state in addition to Odisha and Punjab to have announced an extension to their lockdowns. The lockdowns have now been extended to April 30. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced through a video message.
PM Narendra Modi on a video call with all the State Chief Ministers expressed interest in extending the lockdown till April 30 to control the increasing number of cases. The Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Delhi, and West Bengal supported the PM's suggestion of extending the lockdown further.
Over 1000 Cases in The Last 24 Hours
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported over 1,000 cases of COVID-19 between April 10 and 11.

686 New Cases, 33 New Deaths Reported In India
India reported 686 new cases and 33 new deaths raising the country's total number of cases to 7447 and deaths to 239.
Madhya Pradesh reported a large spike in both number of cases as well as deaths. The state's deaths jumped to 33 while the cases stand at 435.
Assam reported its first death while deaths were also reported in Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Punjab.
Maharashtra with 1537 cases constitutes 20% of the cases and with 110 deaths makes up for 46% for the deaths.
Mumbai Crosses 1000 Cases
Mumbai becomes the first city in India to cross 1000 cases in the country taking Maharashtra's state total to 1574 cases and the number of deaths to 110.
