In a press conference held on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shared that it has taken five key decisions for oxygen management in the country.

24*7 unrestricted, unhindered transportation of oxygen will now be permitted both interstate and intrastate. Oxygen tankers- LMOs,will now be allowed within city limits during the day. Earlier these trucks were only allowed at night affecting the  turnaround time and the supply chain management of oxygen.

An inter-ministerial control room comprising of members from the health ministry, drug controller general of India, department for promotion of industry and internal trade, and petroleum and explosives safety organisation has been created to assist states in their oxygen management.

Along with this, the ministry is also looking at the management of pipelines which are transmitting oxygen, cryogenic tanks, oxygen production plants at micro-levels. The Ministry is also focusing on the rational use of oxygen and ensuring that oxygen is not being overpriced.
