US Elections are a core component of the democratic process in the United States, involving presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, and local elections. The presidential election, held every four years, is among the most anticipated, with the President and Vice President elected through an Electoral College system. Voters cast ballots that determine electors, who then officially vote for the President.

The current President, Joe Biden, of the Democratic Party, has been in office since January 2021. The current Vice President Kamala Harris is running for re-election in 2024, expected to face Donald Trump, the former president, who is leading the Republican Party ticket. This election is shaping up to be a rematch of 2020, making it one of the most anticipated political events globally.

Congressional elections are held every two years, deciding the composition of the House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate. The midterm elections, held midway through a president’s term, influence the balance of power in Congress. Currently, the Democratic Party controls the Senate, while the Republican Party holds a majority in the House of Representatives.
