United Arab Emirates (UAE)

UAE is a federation of seven emirates located on the Arabian Peninsula, known for its rapid economic development, modern infrastructure, and rich cultural heritage. The emirates include Abu Dhabi (the capital), Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain. In August 2019, BOOM investigated a viral morphed image showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi wearing an Arabic Emirati headgear during his arrival in Abu Dhabi.

BOOM found that the original image did not feature Modi wearing the headgear, confirming that the viral photo had been digitally altered.

In November 2019, BOOM investigated a viral video that falsely claimed to show huge tidal waves at Mumbai's Marine Drive.

BOOM found that the video was actually from Muscat, Oman, where Cyclone Kyarr had caused severe damage earlier that week. The video was misleadingly passed off as being from Mumbai.
