Qatar

Qatar, officially known as the State of Qatar, is a small yet influential country located in the Persian Gulf. It is bordered by Saudi Arabia and the Gulf of Bahrain, with Doha as its capital. Known for its vast natural gas reserves and significant oil production, Qatar has one of the highest GDPs per capita in the world, making it one of the wealthiest nations globally. The country has invested heavily in infrastructure, healthcare, and education, aiming to transition to a knowledge-based economy under its Qatar National Vision 2030.

Qatar's political system is a constitutional monarchy, led by the Al Thani family. The Emir, currently Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, holds significant power, overseeing the country’s administration, foreign policy, and economic affairs. In recent years, Qatar has played an active role in global diplomacy, particularly in mediating regional conflicts and engaging in humanitarian efforts. It hosted the FIFA World Cup 2022, which put a spotlight on its infrastructure and social policies, drawing both global praise and criticism.

Qatar shares robust diplomatic and economic ties with India, marked by cooperation in sectors like energy, trade, and labor welfare. India is a major importer of Qatar’s liquefied natural gas (LNG), while the Indian diaspora constitutes a significant part of Qatar’s workforce, contributing to sectors like construction, healthcare, and education. Despite occasional diplomatic challenges, the relationship remains mutually beneficial.
