Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone, born on January 5, 1986, in Copenhagen, Denmark, began her career as a model before transitioning into acting. Raised in Bangalore, India, she is the daughter of former badminton player Prakash Padukone and travel agent Ujjala Padukone. However, it was her debut in Bollywood that propelled her to stardom. Deepika made her acting debut in the 2006 Kannada film "Aishwarya" and soon after entered Bollywood with the blockbuster hit "Om Shanti Om" in 2007 opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Since then, she has delivered numerous successful films, showcasing her versatility in roles ranging from romantic comedies to historical dramas. Deepika has received several awards for her performances and is regarded as one of the leading actresses in Indian cinema.

A manipulated image circulating on social media platforms, falsely depicting Bollywood actors Padukone and Ranveer Singh endorsing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by wearing scarves with "Vote For BJP" written on them. However, BOOM debunked this claim, revealing it as false. The original image was captured after the couple's wedding when they visited the Siddhivanayak temple in Mumbai on November 30, 2018. In the original photo, Deepika and Ranveer were seen wearing orange scarves with no text on them. BOOM had previously refuted this misinformation in April 2019 when it first surfaced.

The spread of misinformation surrounding a viral video purportedly showing actress Padukone purchasing alcohol during the COVID-19 lockdown. BOOM found that the video is actually depicting actress Rakul Preet Singh, not Padukone. The video, posted by Bollywood photographer Viral Bhayani's team, was taken on May 5, 2020, outside a medical and provision store in Bandra's Pali Hill. Despite claims circulating on social media, Rakul Preet Singh clarified that she was out to buy medicines, not alcohol.
