No, Amit Shah Did Not Demand PM Modis Resignation Over Operation Sindoor

A digitally altered video is being shared on social media falsely claiming Home Minister Amit Shah blamed National Security Advisor (NSA) chief Ajit Doval and demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation over Operation Sindoor, allegedly admitting to “losses” to Pakistan during the conflict.

The Claim: Video shows Amit Shah blaming Ajit Doval demanding PM Modi's resignation over Operation Sindoor

The 1.30 minutes video was posted on X by the handle 'The Whistle Blower' (@InsiderWB) with the caption, "Indian Home Minister Amit Shah directly blames Ajit Doval and India PM Modi for the defeat in Operation Sindoor. Says Pakistani missiles hit multiple locations uncontested. Amit Shah demands resignation from Modi over failed Operation Sindoor."

BOOM has previously fact-checked the same handle for sharing digitally altered videos of top Indian defence personnel, pushing false and pro-Pakistan claims.

      What We Found:

      1) The Original Interview

We watched the full interview from which the viral video has been taken. The interview conducted by News 18 Hindi with Amit Shah was posted by Firstpost on September 19, shortly after PM Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17. In it, Shah discussed Modi’s leadership and achievements. At no point did he criticise either PM Modi or Doval, nor did he admit any losses to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.

      2) AI Deepfake Voice Detection Tool Results

We ran the 1.30 minutes video through two AI deepfake voice detection tools: Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector and DeepFake-O-Meter by UB Media Forensics Lab. Both tools results confirmed that the voiceover of Shah in the video is overlaid onto the original footage.

Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector gave the voice an authenticity score of 2/100, flagging it as highly likely to be a deepfake. One of the results by DeepFake-O-Meter gave it a fake portability of 99.1% that it is AI-generated.
