Case Toll In Maharashtra Breaches The 12,000 Mark
The state of Maharashtra reported 790 fresh cases, reaching 12,296 cases on May 2. Further, the state reported 36 fresh deaths from COVID-19, taking the total death toll to 521.
Within Maharashtra, Mumbai reported 547 cases, taking the tally to 8172 cases. Mumbai also reported 27 deaths, taking the death toll to 322.
India reports 440 additional cases, 5 deaths
Latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shows that India has reported a total of 37,776 cases from COVID-19, up 440 cases since its morning update. Also, India has reported 5 additional deaths, with the current death toll at 1223. 10,023 people have been cured or discharged.
More than 2000 cases have been reported in India since May 1.
US Jobless Claims Top 30 Million: ING Economics
With another 3.893 million (38,93,000) people in the United States filed a new unemployment claim in the last week, it brings the total unemployment claims in the last six weeks to 30.3 million. Coupled with a third of 16 - 65 year olds being economically inactive, ING Economics estimates that less than half of the US working population will be earning a wage in May.
27 new positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir: J&K Govt
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has reported 27 new cases in Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the total number of cases in the state at 666 (including 404 active cases). 25 of them have been from the Kashmir division, while 2 of them have been from the Jammu division.
12 new cases in Karnataka, case toll now at 601
The government of Karnataka in its evening bulletin has said that 12 additional people have tested positive in the state over a 24 hour horizon, bringing the total to 601 cases. 3 deaths were also reported, bringing the death toll to 25.
US State Department commits global aid of $775 million
The US Department of State has committed a total of $775 million to countries around the world to tide over the coronavirus pandemic. This includes aid to governments, NGOs and international organisations in the form of health assistance, and humanitarian, economic and developmental assistance. Total US government and non-government aid to the world COVID-19 response stands at $6.5 billion.

11 people test positive in Nagpur in 24 hours
The civil surgeon of Nagpur reported that 11 additional people have tested positive in city in 24 hours, bringing the cases up to 150. 48 patients have been discharged till date.
2 BSF Jawans Test Positive In Tripura
2 BSF jawans have tested positive in the state of Tripura, CM Biplab Deb tweeted. These two cases brings the total number of cases in the state to 4. Incidentally, from April 29 till now, the state was COVID-19 free, as the previous 2 patients who had been detected positive had been discharged.

Death toll in Spain crosses the 25,000 mark
The death toll in Spain has crossed the 25,000 mark, after the country has reported 276 deaths, taking the toll to 25,100 deaths. The country reported 1,366 fresh cases taking the total case toll to 2,16,582. Spain is the second most affected country in the world after the United States.
