The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has extended the restricition of civil aviation in India till May 17, the day on which the newly extended lockdown is set to expire. These restrictions shall not apply to cargo operations approved by the DGCA.

2nd installment of ₹500 to women JDY beneficiaries
The Finance Ministry said that the second installment of ₹500 to women Jan Dhan Yojana beneficiaries will begin from Mondays. These payments were one of many planned handouts valued at ₹1.7 trillion (₹1.7 lakh crore) given by the government of India to affected sections of the Indian population to tide over the COVID-19 pandemic.

12 new cases & 3 deaths in Rajasthan
The state of Rajasthan has reported 12 new cases, and 3 news deaths of the COVID-19 on May 2. This brings the state's tally to 2678, and the death toll to 65. These figures include 1116 people who have recovered and 714 people who have been discharged.
US Gives 60-days relaxation to H1-B/Green Card Applicants
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services has granted a 60-day relaxation to applicants around the H1-B visa and the Green Card. The USCIS will consider responses given to applications within 60-days after a response due date. These responses would to requests for evidence, notices to deny, invoke, rescind and terminate regional investment centres.
FDA Grants Authorisation For The Emergency Use of Remdesivir
The US Food and Drug Administration has granted and emergency use authorisation (EUA) to use experimental drug Remdesivir for emergency situations on COVID-19 patients. The drug has been under observation as a potential cure for the disease.
62 cases reported in Andhra Pradesh
The state of Andhra Pradesh reported 62 new cases of the COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. This brings the state's toll to 1525. The state's death toll is 33.
23-year old medical intern tests positive in Rishikesh
A 23-year old medical intern has tested posted at AIIMS Rishikesh. She had first shown symptoms on April 28, and had been under observation. This brings the total number of cases in Uttarakhand to 58.
Over 2000 New Cases In The Last 24 Hours
India's total number of cases and deaths rose to 37,336 and 1218 as the country reported 1,971 new cases and 66 new deaths across the country.
Over 9950 people have also recovered.
Indian Railways Cancels All trains Except Shramik Special Trains Till May 17
The Indian Railways on May 1, 2020, stated that all passenger trains have been cancelled till May 17 due to the extension of the lockdown barring special trains to facilitate the movement of migrant workers, tourists, students and people stranded at different places would continue.

Madhya Pradesh reported a total of 2715 positive COVID-19 cases, and 145 deaths as on May 1, 2020, according to the state health department.
