WHO Calls China And South Korea Areas Of Declining Epidemics
The World Health Organization has further stated that from the 118,000 cases seen in 114 countries, 90% of the cases are from Italy, Iran, China and South Korea wherein the latter two are witnessing a decline in the cases.
The WHO also stated that 81 countries haven't reported any cases while 57 have reported 10 or lesser cases.
WHO Classifies COVID-19 As A Pandemic
The World Health Organization has finally classified COVID-19 as a pandemic.
A pandemic is a disease prevalent across the world.
In a press conference, the officials stated that they had never seen a pandemic sparked by a coronavirus, but also never seen a pandemic that can be controlled.
Maharashtra Confirms Five Cases, 2 In Mumbai, 3 In Pune
The Public Health Department of Maharashtra has confirmed five other cases, three from Pune and two from Mumbai taking the confirmed cases to seven in the state. These new cases travelled from Dubai with the family that tested positive two days ago in Pune
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has not confirmed these cases, yet.
Kerala Isolates 45 People Who Returned From Italy
Stepping up efforts to check the spread of coronavirus in Kerala, the state government has sent at least 45 people who returned here from COVID-19 hit Italy to various health facilities, official sources said on Wednesday.
Ministry Confirms Eight New Cases In Kerala
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare confirmed eight new cases of COVID-19 from Kerala.
Six of the eight new cases reported are the primary contacts of the couple and son who had returned from Italy and had tested positive earlier.
Air India's Italy Flight Isolated At Delhi
The flight AI-138 was not given an aerobridge access as "disembarking passengers from Milan" were kept away from other passengers prior to their medical screening. Instead a remote bay with a bus access gate to the terminal was provided to the aircraft. Notably, the flight drew attention as it came from Milan, Italy, where the virus outbreak has occurred. All passengers have been screened for the virus as per protocol. The aircraft ferried around 70 passengers and crew.
Kerala Woman Critical
The health condition of an 85-year old woman being treated for COVID-19 at the isolation ward of the government medical college hospital here is serious, health officials said on Wednesday. In view of her chronic health condition like heart disease, she is serious while her 96-year old husband is stable, they said. They are the parents of a coronavirus affected man who returned from Italy on February 29 alongwith his wife and 24- year old son.
Schools And Colleges In Ladakh Shut Till March 31
The Ladakh administration has closed all colleges and the university in the union territory from Wednesday until March 31 as a precautionary measure in consideration of the coronavirus outbreak.
Delhi, Karnatala, Kerala have also shut their schools till March 31
Mizoram Citizens In Frenzy After It Shuts Borders
Mizoram said it has enough stock of essential commodities for at least three months, as residents of the state capital made a beeline in markets following rumours that the inter-state borders may be shut amid the coronavirus scare. The rumours on social media after Mizoram's borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh were shut on Monday led to panic among the residents of the state.
Ministry Confirm 52 Cases
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare website states that 52 cases have been confirmed in the country with one new case from Delhi and Rajasthan.
