Puducherry Announces Extension Of Lockdown
The Union Territory of Puducherry has announced the extension of its lockdown to April 30 joining Maharashtra, Odisha and Punjab in extending the lockdown.
Mumbai Death Toll Reaches 100
Out of the 324 deaths in India, Mumbai accounts for 100 deaths. Mumbai reported nine new deaths on April 13, 2020.
Nagaland Reports First Case Of Coronavirus
Nagaland reported its first coronavirus case after a man from Dimapur tested positive at Assam's Guwahati Medical College. The man had returned from Kolkata to Nagaland on March 24 and was advised 14 day self isolation. He was admitted to a private hospital in Nagaland between April 8 and 10, readmitted on April 11, vomitted blood on April 12, and was brought to Guwahati at night.
SC Modifies Order Of Free Testing By Private Labs
The Supreme Court has changed its April 8 order of asking all private labs to not charge for COVID-19 testing. Only Ayushman Bharat and people belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections of society will be permitted to avail of free testing services at private laboratories while the rest will have to shell out the prices that were earlier prescribed for private tests.
India Reported 200 New Cases, 16 New Deaths
India's total case count reaches 9352 and death toll reaches 324 as the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported 200 new cases and 16 new deaths in its evening update on April 13.
Deaths were reported in Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana. Nagaland reported its first case.
25 Districts Report No Cases In Past 14 Days
In 24 hours the Ministry reported 796 new cases and 35 new deaths with over 850 people having recovered.
The Health Ministry also stated that 25 districts from 15 states had not reported any new cases in the past 14 days.
These include one each from Maharashtra, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Manipur, Mizoram, Puducherry, Uttarakhand, Telangana, two districts from Kerala, three from Haryana, Bihar and Chhattisgarh while four are from Karnataka
Rapid Testing Kits Expected On April 15: ICMR
The rapid antibody testing kits are expected to arrive in India on April 15. These tests will trace antibodies acting against the virus in the body.
The ICMR has so far tested 2,06, 112 tests of which over 16,000 tests were conducted on April 12.
PM To Address Nation On April 14
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to address the nation at 10 AM on April 14, 2020.
April 14 marks the last of the 21-day lockdown period announced from March 25 onwards.
India Crosses 300 Deaths
The MOHFW reported 705 new cases and 35 new deaths raising the total number of cases and deaths to 9152 and 308 respectively. Around 857 people have also recovered.
New deaths have been reported in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.
Delhi, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu are the three states to have more than 1000 cases.
British PM Released From Hospital
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been released from hospital, according to an official statement. He was released after spending a week there, of which three nights were in an intensive care unit. He was admitted in hospital 10 days after testing COVID-19 positive, when his symptoms did not subside, and he shall continue recuperating at his house in Chequers.
