      Video Of Two Groups Of BJP Supporters Fighting Goes Viral With Misleading Context

      A video showing two groups of Bharaitya Janata Party (BJP) supporters clashing in Ajmer, Rajasthan is viral on Facebook with a misleading context claiming party workers were thrashed by the public.

      The video was shared on the page of Congress worker Raja Gurjot Singh.

      The clip shows two groups kicking and slapping each other while the party flag can also be seen.

      The caption accompany the video translates to, "we had said as much, the public will not forgive you." The post has been shared at least 1500 times in the last 24 hours.

      Translated from Hindi text - (बोला था न जनता माफ नही करेंगी ।)

      The caption implies that a BJP candidate had to face the public's wrath.

      FACT CHECK

      BOOM was able to track down the original video to a tweet by wire agency ANI (Asian News International). Two groups of BJP supporters clashed during a rally in Masuda, Ajmer in Rajasthan. The incident was reported on April 11, 2019 when polling in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections were underway.

      According to an article by Hindi newspaper Jagran during a campaign rally of BJP candidate Bhagirath Choudhary there was a clash between the followers of the former Masuda MP Sushil Kanwar Palara's husband Bhanwar Singh Palara and Navin Sharma, who joined the party recently.
