Samay Raina is an Indian stand-up comedian and YouTuber. He is a chess enthusiast and known for his dark humor and unfiltered comedy. He is also a co-winner of the stand-up comedy contest Comicstaan 2 (2019) . In June 2024, Raina launched India’s Got Latent, YouTube reality show that offers contestants a stage to showcase their unique talent. The show gained a cult following with some of the episodes crossing 40 million views on YouTube. In a recent video of India’s Got Latent, a panelist Ranveer Allahbadia, a well-known podcaster, asked a contestant a question “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to stop it forever”? which led to controversy and sparked outrage online and offline from the viewers, activist groups and politicians. The Maharashtra cyber department registered an FIR against all the 30 individuals, including artist, host, judges, and participants of all six episodes of India’s Got Latent under section 79, 196, 299, 292, Section 3(5) and Section 67 by the Maharashtra Crime Branch. Assam chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on 10th February tweeted that Guwahati Crime Branch has registered a cases against five YouTubers - Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija and Samay Raina for promoting obscenity and engaging in vulgar discussion under section 79, 95, 294, 296, section 67 of IT Act, 2000, Section 4/7 of Cinematograph Act 1952 and Section 4/6 of Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition ) Act, 1986. On 12th February 2025, Samay Raina tweeted “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India's Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”

Raina was born into a conservative Kashmiri Pandit family in Jammu. He did his print engineering course from PVG's COET at Pune and in due time drifted towards stand-up comedy. After his studies he moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in stand-up and start his journey in comedy. He joined Comicstaan 2 with his friend Aakash Gupta, and became the joint winner. During Covid-19 pandemic he started streaming chess games on his Youtube channel, slowly his viewership boosted. On 5 May 2021, Raina won the $10,000 Botez Bullet Invitational, a one-hour amateur bullet arena tournament sponsored by Chess.com and hosted by the Botez sisters. He was the only Indian streamer competing among some of the top international Twitch streamers and earned $4000. He started organising online chess tournaments on his channel to attract the online audience to chess, called Comedians On Board (COB), inviting many of his comedian friends and other celebrities. He also organised an online chess league called Chess Super League with ChessBase and Nodwin Gaming for the prize pool of ₹40 lakh.

BOOM has debunked misinformation about Samay Raina like in February 2025, BOOM factchecked a viral video of Samay Raina cracking a joke about Rekha in front of Amitabh Bachchan on Kaun Banega Crorepati. BOOM watched the entire episode of KBC, titled 'Influencer Special' but did not find any joke being made about Rekha. The video was doctored using AI.
