Prakash Javadekar

Prakash Javadekar, born on January 30, 1951, in Pune, Maharashtra, is an Indian politician and senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Over the years, he has held several key positions in the Indian government, including Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Environment, Forest & Climate Change, and Human Resource Development (now Education). Javadekar is known for his work on environmental policies, educational reforms, and media regulations, often representing India in international forums on climate change and sustainable development.

Javadekar has been a Member of Parliament (MP) in both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha, playing an active role in policy-making, legislative discussions, and public communication on key issues like environmental protection, climate action, education, and digital governance. His tenure as the Environment Minister saw initiatives aimed at balancing economic growth with sustainable development, though it also faced criticism for alleged compromises on environmental clearances.

In May 2019, BOOM fact-checked a viral quote falsely attributed to Javadekar, claiming he said that Cyclone Fani was "an indicator of a Modi wave."

BOOM found out that the quote originated from a parody Twitter account, @Anynews_, confirming that Javadekar never made such a statement.
