The Israeli-Palestinian conflict traces back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries with the emergence of political Zionism and the arrival of Jewish settlers in Palestine.

The fresh conflict between the regions began after Hamas launched a military campaign on Israel October 7, 2023, leading to retaliatory strikes. Around 240 individuals were captured in southern Israel, and 1,139 were killed by Palestinian fighters in the beginning. Since then, the Palestinian death toll has surpassed 35,000.

BOOM has fact-checked several pieces of misinformation since the recent conflict. One of them included a photograph falsely circulated on social media, claiming to show an Israeli billionaire's ship attacked by a drone. The image was traced back to a 2019 incident in the Gulf of Oman.

Additionally, BOOM debunked a viral video falsely claiming that British singer Adele showed solidarity with Gaza by holding a Palestinian flag during a concert. By tracing the origins of the video, identifying the flag accurately which was not the Palestinian flag, but the flag of Mexico. BOOM has come across various types of misinformation cases during the Israel-Palestine conflict, ranging from unrelated videos, AI-generated photos, and videos that have been shared with false claims.
