        ThreeTrainee Jawans Test Positive In Vadodara

        Three soldier craftsmen undergoing training at the Military Station in Vadodara have tested positive for coronavirus, officials said on Friday. They have been admitted to government run SSG Hospital in Vadodara. 

        This is the first case of armed fores testing positive in Gujarat where 112 deaths and over 2600 cases have been reported of the virus.

        Tripura becomes COVID-19 free

        Tripura's CM Biplab Deb tweeted that the state has become coronavirus-free. The second of the state's two confirmed cases tested negative after repeated tests, making Tripura the third state after Goa and Manipur to become coronavirus free.

        consecutive tests.

        Hence our State has become Corona free.

        India reports 23077 cases, 718 deaths

        Latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare showed that India has 23,077 cases of COVID-19 and 718 deaths. This is an increase of 1377 cases over the last update on April 23, and an increase of 32 deaths.

        The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported 304 new cases and 5 new deaths taking the total number of cases to 21,700 and deaths to 686.

        Convalescent plasma treatments now being tried: AIIMS

        On treatment, Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director of AIIMS states that 80% of patients are treated using supportive therapies, 15% using oxygen therapy with other drugs. The government has now started with convalescent plasma treatments. A large number of individuals who have become alright have come forward and have volunteered to donate their blood.

        An environment of fear and panic around those infected with COVID-19

        Dr. Randeep Guleria, director of AIIMS, says that, "Instead of sympathising with these people [those under quarantine], we have created an environment of fear and panic, which is really not right."

        Positive cases as a ratio of total tests constant at 4%

        Positive cases, as a percentage of conducted test, was at 4% 30 days ago, and it is something the India has been able to maintain over a 30 day horizon.

        Government gives figures to show that testing is up significantly

        The government said that on March 23, 14,915 tests were conducted in India, whereas on April 22, more than 5 lakh tests had been conducted; an increase of 33 times in 30 days, according to the government.

        Health Ministry Discusses Epidemic Ordinance

        Epidemic Diseases Ordinance 2020 was issued by President, which puts stiff fines and prison terms for assault or misbehaviour with health officials on duty. This would be done by amending the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897.
