        Hyderabad using end to end applications for tracing a patient from detection to discharge. The IMCT team that visited Hyderabad that social distancing is being followed but in some areas labourers were found to be moving without masks. 

        The IMCT team that visited Chennai found that the recovery rate in Tamil Nadu is better as 57% people have already recovered. Test reports are available in 24 hours.

        Reliance Industries Limited Announces Salary Cuts

        Indian oil to telecom conglomerate Reliance Industries Limited has announces salary cuts in its hydrocarbon vertical due to the adverse impact of COVID-19. Those earning more than ₹15 lakh will see a 10% reduction in their base pay, while those earning less than ₹15 lakh will be unaffected. All performance based incentives and bonuses will be deferred. The company's board of directors will take a cut from 30% to 50%, while chairman Mukesh Ambani will forego his entire salary.

        Maharashtra lays down procedure for inter-state movement of stranded persons

        Maharashtra has released a set of guidelines for the inter and intra-state movement of stranded persons. To move, they would need to register with the district nodal officer, and receive a permit from the receiving state/district.

        Cases tally in Rajasthan hits 2500 mark

        The state of Rajasthan reported 118 new cases and 3 deaths, bringing the state tally to 2556. This tally includes 58 deaths and 836 recoveries. The count is - 83 in Jodhpur, 21 in Jaipur, 4 in Ajmer, 3 in Chittorgarh, 2 each in Kota and Tonk, 1 each in Alwar, Baran and Dholpur,

        Andhra Pradesh reports 71 new cases

        The state of Andhra Pradesh reported 71 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the state tally to 1403. 43 cases were reported in the district of Kurnool, 10 cases in Krishna, four each in Guntur and Kadapa, three in Anantapur and Chittoor, and two each in East Godavari and Nellore.

        Kenyan Government Imposes Lockdown On Kakuma & Dadaab Refugee Camps

        The Kenyan government announced a partial lockdown on the Kakuma and Dadaab refugees camps, which are amongst the largest in the world. Most refugeess in these camps are of Somalian or Sudanese origin, and are infamous for overcrowding and malnourishment.The Dadaab camps hosts more than 2,10,000 refugees as of March 31, 2019. Kakuma hosts 1,94,000 refugees.

        Fuel Consumption Declined 80% In April

        Fuel consumption has declined 80% in April, according to estimates by Madan Sabnavis, an economist with Care Ratings. They estimate that the revenue loss due to this decline would be ₹400 billion (or $5.3 billion). The government seems to have lost $153 million per day from oil revenue during the lockdown.         Reuters has reported that the Japanese Parliament is set to approve a $241 billion supplementary budget, as part of a $1.1 trillion stimulus package to counter COVID-19. A feature of this package are provisions to provide Japanese citizens with 100,000 yen each, in a "helicopter money" move.

        French Economy Shrank 5.8% In Q1 In Worst Quarter On Record

        The French economy shrank 5.8% in Q1, higher than an expected shrinkage of 4%, in its worst quarter on record. Growth figures from other major economies such an Germany, Italy, Spain (countries have high cases of COVID-19), along with a eurozone estimate follows. Yesterday, the US reported a 5% decline in gross domestic product (GDP) growth.

        India's Glenmark to conduct COVID-19 cure trial

        Indian pharmaceutical company Glenmark got an approval from the Drug Controller General of India to conduct tests on COVID-19 patients with its anti-viral drug 'favipiravir', seen as a potential cure to the disease. The drug is a generic version of Avigan, a drug of Japanese company Fujifilm Chemicals. Shares of the company were up 9% on Wednesday.
