        "We Are In A Good Place": Donald Trump Disagrees With Dr Anthony Fauci's COVID-19 Assessment

        US President Donald Trump said he disagrees with Dr Anthony Fauci's assessment of the US' COVID-19 response reports CNN. In an interview with Gray Television's Greta Van Susteren, Trump said, "Well, I think we are in a good place. I disagree with him. Dr. Fauci said don't wear masks and now he says wear them. And he said numerous things. Don't close off China. Don't ban China. I did it anyway. I didn't listen to my experts and I banned China. We would have been in much worse shape."

        India's Total Case Count Nears 7.5 Lakh

        According to data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India reported 22,752 new COVID-19 cases as the total case count rose to 7,42,417. The number of active cases stands at 2,64,944 while 4,56,830 patients have been cured or discharged so far. The death toll rose to 20,642 after 482 patients died due to COVID-19.

        Brazil President Jair Bolsanaro Tests Positive For COVID-19

        Brazilian president Jair Bolsanaro has tested positive for COVID-19, according to multiple media reports. According to The Guardian, Bolsanaro announced that he has tested positive on live TV. Bolsanaro has repeatedly downplayed the seriousness of the disease calling it a "little flu" and clashing with regional governors over getting people back to work in the middle of the pandemic.

        Kenya Declares Current School Year "Lost"

        The Kenyan government has declared the current school year as a "lost year" due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reports AFP. The Kenyan academic year lasts from January to November with the government shutting schools in March after the outbreak of the disease in the country. "Faced with this uncertain environment, the stakeholders have resolved to reopen all basic education learning institutions in January 2021," said Education Minister George Magoha.

        CBSE Reduces Syllabus For IX-XII Grade Students

        The CBSE has revised its curriculum for grades XI, X, XII and XII students for the 2020-21 academic year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The board said in a statement that the courses have been reduced as much as possible while retaining core concepts.         No Community Transmission Of COVID-19 In Karnataka: State Tells Centre

        The Karnataka state government has informed the centre that there is no community transmission of COVID-19 in the state reports PTI. "There is no community spread so far, I am making it very clear. We are still in between the second and the third stage, we haven't reached the third stage yet," state Health Minister B Sriramulu said. Karnataka has reported 25,317 cases so far with 401 deaths.

        Mylan Secures Approval For Distribution Of Its Remdesivir Injection

        The pharmaceutical company Mylan announced that it has secured Indian approval for its remdesivir injection for restricted emergency use for COVID-19 patients. Mylan will sell the drug under the brand name DESREM and will be priced at Rs 4,800.

        Melbourne Placed Under Lockdown For Six Weeks

        Australia's second-largest city Melbourne has been put under a lockdown for six weeks after reporting a record increase in COVID-19 cases for two consecutive days. The Premier of Victoria sate, Dan Andrews said in a statement that stay-at-home order has been issued from midnight of July 8 for six weeks in the Melbourne metropolitan region and Mitchell Shire. As of July 6, the state of Victoria has reported 2,660 cases with 2,307 being reported in Melbourne.

        India's Total Case Count Crosses 7 Lakh Mark; Death Toll Exceeds 20,000

        India reported 22,252 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours to take the total case count to 7,19,665. The number of active cases stands at 2,59,557 while 4,39,947 patients have been cured or discharged so far. 467 patients succumbed to COVID-19 as the death toll rose to 20,160.

        Maharashtra To Allow Hotels To Reopen Outside Containment Zones

        The Maharashtra government will allow hotels to reopen outside containment zones from July 8. Hotels and lodges will only be allowed to operate at 33% capacity and have been ordered to accept only asymptomatic guests. Thermal scanners have to be placed at entrances while guests have to wear a mask inside the premises at all times. Guests will also have to mandatorilly install the Aarogya Setu app. Maharashtra reported 5358 cases today, 1,200 fewer cases than yesterday.
