Chetan Chauhan Passes Away Due To Complications Arising From COVID-19

Former Indian cricketer and BJP MP, Chetan Chauhan. 73, passed away on Sunday due to complications that arose after he tested positive for COVID-19. He tested positive in July and was transferred to Gurugram's Medanta Hospital from Lucknow's Sanjay Gandhi PGI hospital in Lucknow. 

His condition deteriorated on Friday night after which doctors put him on life support.  

Delhi Disaster Management Issues Guidelines For Festivals

Delhi will not see public Ganesh pandals as well as Moharram processions, according to guidelines issued by Delhi Disaster Management Authority. People in Delhi have been requested to celebrate the Ganesh festival as well as Moharram at home. 

New Outbreak In South Korea Linked To Church Pastor

As South Korea reported 279 new cases, the highest in months, Sarang Jeil Church, led by Rev. Jun Kwang-hoon has emerged as the hotspot with 240 new infections. The Church pastor violated social distancing norms and did not permit contact tracing at the church, according to Reuters. 

Bihar Becomes Eighth State To Cross One Lakh Mark

After reporting 3,543 cases on August 15, Bihar became the eighth state to report more than one lakh total cases of COVID-19 in the country.

The southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu as well as Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal are the other states that have reported more than one lakh cases in the country. 

India's Death Toll Reaching 50,000

India reported 63,490 new cases taking the total number of cases to 25,89,682. With 944 new deaths, the total fatalities stand at 49,980. As over 18,62,258 people have recovered, the current active caseload is at 6,77,444. 

Singer SP Balasubrahmanyam Continues To Be On Life Support: Hospital

Singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who had tested positive for COVID-19 on August 5, is stable but still on life support, according to The News Minute. In a statement released on Saturday, Chennai's MGM Healthcare hospital said, "Thiru SP Balasubrahmanyam who is admitted at MDM Healthcare due to COVID-19 continues to be on life support in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He remains stable and the doctors are closely monitoring his clinical parameters."

Maharashtra Minister Balasaheb Patil Tests Positive For COVID-19

Maharashtra Cooperation Minister Balasaheb Patil has tested positive for COVID-19, reports PTI. Patil tested positive on Friday night and has been admitted to a hospital in his home constituency of Karad. Patil is the seventh Maharashtra minister to contract the disease.

Former India Cricketer Chetan Chauhan On Life Support After Testing COVID-19 Positive

Former Indian cricketer and Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Chetan Chauhan, who had tested positive for COVID-19, is on life support after suffering multiple organ failure, reports PTI. "Early morning today, Chetan ji had a kidney failure and, subsequently, had multiple organ failure. He is currently on life support. We are all praying that he wins this battle," a senior DDCA official told PTI

India Adds 65,002 New COVID-19 Cases

India has reported 65,002 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours taking the total case count to 25,26,192. The number of active cases stands at 6,68,220 while 18,08,936 patients have been cured or discharged so far. The death toll rose to 49,036 after 996 patients died due to the disease.

Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal Tests Positive For COVID-19

Joint Secretary for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Lav Agarwal who has been the face of the Ministry'sCOVID-19  press conferences tested positive for COVID-19. He tweeted that he was under home isolation and requested people who had been in contact with him to self monitor.
