Video Of Old Celebration Falsely Linked To Congress' Nagpur MLC Poll Win
BOOM found that the video is old and unrelated to the Nagpur MLC poll results announced on October 29, 2026.
A video showing a large crowd dancing to music while holding Congress flags is being shared online with the false claim that it shows Congress supporters celebrating the party's victory in the MLC polls in Maharashtra's Nagpur.
BOOM found that the video is old and predates the Nagpur MLC poll results. NCP MLA Rohit Pawar shared the video on October 19, 2026, following Congress MLC Satej Patil's victory in the Gokul Milk Union elections in Maharashtra's Kolhapur.
A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at the Congress over its performance in the MLC polls across multiple states, asking, “Guess how many seats the Congress won,” the party hit back at the BJP after defeating it in Nagpur, which houses the RSS headquarters and is the hometown of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The Telegraph reported on October 29, 2026, that following the announcement of the Nagpur poll results, Maharashtra Congress shared a screenshot of a deleted social media post by Fadnavis, in which he had said that the grand old party got a "big fat zero" in the polls.
The Claim
The video is being shared with the caption, "Congress takes Nagpur! BJP loses in Fadnavis’s hometown, right under the shadow of RSS headquarters. Even on their home turf, BJP couldn’t hold the fort! Nagpur delivers a political shocker! Congress wins the Nagpur MLC election in the very city that houses the RSS headquarters and is home turf for BJP heavyweights Devendra Fadnavis and Nitin Gadkari. If BJP can't hold its ground in its own backyard, what does that say about its political dominance? The result is a reminder that no political stronghold is invincible!"
