On May 18, 2026, Lyng confronted Modi in Oslo during a joint press interaction with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, asking about press freedom in India and his practice of not taking media questions. Lyng has also been actively posting about the incident on X and responding to users critical of her questioning PM Modi. In several replies, she reiterating that asking questions of world leaders is part of a journalist’s role.

What We Found:
1) Norway Journalist video questioning PM Modi
We checked the video posted by Lyng on May 18, 2026, where she said Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not take her question during the press interaction in Oslo. In the post, Lyng wrote that Norway ranks first on the World Press Freedom Index, while India ranks 157th, and added that it is the media’s job to question “the powers we cooperate with.”
We did not find any mention about Operation Sindoor or around the India-Pakistan conflict last year.
