A video claiming to show Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat calling for the “saffronisation” of the Indian Army and demanding the removal of “non-caste Hindus” from its ranks, is digitally altered and fake.
BOOM found that the voice-over in the clip is entirely fabricated and generated using artificial intelligence (AI). The manipulated video is part of the ongoing disinformation campaign targeting India’s military and political leadership.
The Claim: Video shows Mohan Bhagwat demanding the saffornisation of the Indian Army
The video was posted on X by the handle @InsiderWB, with the caption, "BREAKING NEWS: Mohan Bhagwat of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh tells Narendra Modi that the Indian Army must be saffronized to remain pure, demanding removal of so called non caste Hindus from the ranks. The claim adds an ultimatum that failure to meet targets by 2028 would pave the way for Yogi Adityanath."
BOOM has previously fact-checked the same handle for sharing digitally altered videos of top Indian defence personnel, pushing false and pro-Pakistan claims.
