Bihar Molestation: Photo Of Accused Nandan Yadav Posing With Akhilesh Yadav Is AI

A photo showing the prime accused Nandan Yadav in the alleged public molestation and harassment incident in Bihar's Jamui posing with Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav is AI generated.
BOOM tested the photo using multiple AI detection tools, which confirmed that it was artificially generated using OpenAI tools.
Yadav was shot in the leg during a police encounter, while his co-accused Hare Ram Yadav injured himself while trying to escape the spot. According to Bihar Police, all persons involved in the incident have been arrested. Yadav was shown in the viral video with an orange cloth wrapped around his face and groping and lifting the minor girl, who was out with his friend. On September 19, the two minors were allegedly molested and harassed by Yadav and others while returning from their coaching class in Bihar's Jamui district. Disturbing visuals of the incident later went viral on social media, triggering public outrage and prompting the Bihar Police to take action against the accused.
The Claim
The photo was posted by the X account @Bharatrastrsena with the caption, "I opened the Facebook account of the accused Nandan Yadav and found this picture there".

What We Found: Photo Generated Using OpenAI Tools
1. No Credible Source Found: BOOM first ran a reverse image search on the photo to trace its origin. However, we found no credible source that could verify the authenticity of the photo.
We also found news reports published by The Print and The Lallantop that reported on Nandan Yadav's social media profiles, but neither report mentioned about a Facebook post featuring him with Akhilesh Yadav.
2. Photo Generated Using OpenAI: Taking a cue, we ran the photo through multiple AI detection tools, which confirmed that the image was AI-generated. We also tested the image using OpenAI's detection tool, which confirmed that the picture was generated using OpenAI tools.
