A video from Bangladesh is being shared on social media with the false claim that it shows a Hindu girl recounting how she was raped by Muslims in front of her father.
BOOM found that the incident in the video is not a rape case. It is from Comilla, Bangladesh, and dates back to April 2026, when NGO employees allegedly assaulted a Hindu couple following a dispute over loan repayments.
The Claim
The 28-second video shows a woman crying and describing her ordeal. In the latter part of the video, a man is also seen crying while speaking about the incident.
The video was posted by ISKCON Kolkata spokesperson Radharaman Das with the claim that a Hindu woman was raped by Muslims in Bangladesh and the man seen crying in the video is the victim’s father describing the incident.
BOOM has previously fact-checked false claims posted by Das on X.
What We Found:
Money dispute case from Bangladesh
We ran multiple reverse image searches and keyword searches, and found multiple reports from local Bangladeshi media outlets showing that the incident was linked to a dispute over loan repayments.
Reports by Comilla Daily, Trikalkantho, and Dainik Bangla News stated that the incident took place on April 30, 2026. According to the reports, Miraz Hussain, a field worker of an NGO in Comilla, and several associates allegedly got into a dispute with a Hindu couple, Reena Rani Saha and Shyamal Chandra Sarkar, over delayed loan instalment payments. The dispute allegedly escalated into a physical assault.
According to the reports, Saha had taken a loan of 80,000 taka (Bangladeshi currency) from the NGO Palli Mangal and had been paying monthly installments. NGO employees allegedly visited her home after several installments were not made. An argument broke out between the two sides, which later escalated into an assault.
It was alleged that the woman’s clothes were torn during the incident. Her husband, Shyamal Chandra Sarkar, filed a complaint at the Comilla Kotwali Model Police Station against four individuals, including a caretaker.
The NGO denied the allegations of assault and claimed that the couple had staged the incident to avoid repaying the loan.
Victim's statement
Several local news outlets shared videos of the couple speaking about the incident, in which they describe the alleged assault and demand justice.
Local reports also carry statements from Saha, who can be seen narrating the incident in Bangla and detailing the alleged assault.
