An unrelated video is being shared on social media with claims that Hindus in Tamil Nadu began protesting and removing Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party flags after Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin’s anti-Sanatana remarks in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
BOOM found that the video is from March 2026 and shows supporters of a local former TVK leader Ajitha Agnel removing party flags after she was denied an MLA ticket.
On May 12, 2026, Udhayanidhi Stalin made remarks critical of Sanatana Dharma during proceedings in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. VMS Mustafa, an MLA from TVK, also appeared to endorse Stalin’s remarks later.

What We Found:
1) Video Predates Stalin’s Anti-Sanatana Remarks
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to posts from March 2026, predating the recent controversy around Stalin’s remarks in the Assembly.
The original video was posted on March 29, 2026, with a Tamil caption that translates to: “Ajitha Agnel was denied a seat in the Thoothukudi constituency. Supporters expressed their displeasure by removing the TVK party flag from the car and throwing away the whistle.”

Before the Assembly election, TVK chief Vijay’s associate Shrinath was announced as the party’s candidate for the Thoothukudi Assembly constituency. Ajitha Angel, the former Thoothukudi district secretary of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), had expected to receive the party ticket, and her supporters protested after she was denied the nomination.
