British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has come to his office at Downing Street after a three weeks hiatus after recovering from COVID-19. He spent a couple of days in a London hospital, which included 2 nights in the ICU.
8 new cases in Karnataka
8 news cases has been reported by the state of Karnataka in its morning bulletin from 5PM on April 26 to the noon of April 27. The total count now stands at 511 cases, including 19 deaths and 188 discharges.
New Zealand has 'currently eliminated' coronavirus
New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Arden said that the New Zealand has 'currently eliminated' the coronavirus by stopping community transmission of the disease. The country has reported fewer than 1500 cases, and 19 deaths. From Tuesday, some non-essential, healthcare and educational activities will be able to resume.
80 New COVID-19 Cases In Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh has reported 80 new cases, bringing their total count up to 1177. 33 of these cases came from the Krishna district in the state.

RBI Announces Liquidity Facility For Mutual Funds
The Reserve Bank of India announced a ₹50,000 crore liquidity facility for mutual funds, which is on-tap and open ended. Under this, banks have to exclusively meet the liquidity requirements of mutual funds. The scheme will be valid till May 11, or the utlisation of funds, whichever is earlier.
Congress Leader Badruddin Shaikh Dies of COVID-19
Congress leader hailing from Gujarat, senior corporator and former leader of opposition in the Ahmadabad Municipal Corporation, Badruddin Shaikh, succumbed to COVID-19. He was 67, and was suffering from diabetes and hypertension, and tested positive on April 15.
India reports 976 cases, 46 deaths
Latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shows India has 27892 confirmed cases of COVID-19, up 976 cases since its last update in the evening of April 26. The Ministry also reported a total of 872 deaths, up 46 deaths since its last update.
Gujarat May Have The L-Strain From Wuhan
The high COVID-19 mortality rate in Gujarat could be due to the dominance of the L-type strain of coronavirus, found to have been more prevalent in Wuhan in China, where the outbreak started, experts said.
The dominance of the more virulent L-type coronavirus strain as compared to the S-type one could be behind the high mortality rate in the state, which has reported 133 deaths so far. However, no research has been conducted to confirm this, they said.
A scientist at the state-run Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre (GBRC) said that the novel coronavirus used for genome sequencing recently conducted by it was found to contain the L-type strain.
