Many States Under Lockdown
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Tripura are other states which have announced lockdowns.
India Records 9th Death
A 69-year-old Tibetan refugee, who died at a hospital in Tanda in Himachal Pradesh earlier today, has been tested positive for coronavirus. He returned from the US on March 15: State Additional Chief Secretary (Health) RD Dhiman.
Kerala Orders Lockdown
Kerala recorded 28 new cases today taking the state's total to 95 confirmed cases of which 3 have recovered. The state now crosses Maharashtra which has 89 confirmed cases.
The state has ordered a lockdown wherein essential services will be available but other services will be put under a lockdown.
India's Cases Rise To 433
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported that India has confirmed 433 positive cases of COVID-19 with 7 deaths as of 06:00 pm on March 23, 2020.
Maharashtra with 74 cases leads the number of cases and is followed by Kerala with 67 cases, Telangana with 32 cases, Uttar Pradesh with 31 cases, Delhi and Gujarat with 29 cases, Rajasthan with 28 cases, Haryana with 26 cases, Punjab with 21 cases. Other cases have cases less than 20.
West Bengal Reports First Death
A 57-year-old male patient who tested positive with COVID-19 in West Bengal succumbed to the disease on Monday, March 23. This is the first death in the state.
Maharashtra has sealed all state borders as well as district borders and prohibited travelling.
Domestic Airlines To Be Suspended
The Ministry of Civil Aviation reported that all domestic commercial flights stand cancelled from 23.59 hours on March 24, 2020 till further notice. The Ministry also stated that airlines should end their operations by then.
12 Private laborary chains with 15,000 collection centres across the country are now going to start COVID-19 testing. Both FDA and ICMR-NIV certified testing kits can be used.
Pune Decides To Shut Vehicular Transport
Pune City Police Chief tweeted on March 23 that all vehicular traffic will be shut in Pune. Along with this, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will only be open for unavoidable travel which people will be asked to justify their reasons of travel by the authorities, tweeted Pune Mirror
Private Labs For COVID-19 Testing Increases
The ICMR has approved newer private labs in Delhi, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai which are an addition to the existing ones in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.
