China Reports No New Deaths For The First Time Since January
On April 6, 2020, China reported no deaths for the first time since the outbreak started in January.

NZ PM Arden Demotes Health Minister
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden demoted Health Minister David Clark to the bottom of cabinet ranking, and stripped him of his role as associate finance minister. This was done as Clark took his family on a beach trip in the early stages of New Zealand's national lockdown, flouting social distancing norms. She also extended a national emergency in the country by another 7 days.

India Reports 4421 Cases, 114 Deaths
Latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shows that confirmed cases have risen to 4421, up 140 cases since April 6. 3 additional deaths were also reported, taking the toll up to 114.
Ordinance For 30% Salary Cut For MPs And Ministers In 2021
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced that an ordinance will be passed for a 30% salary cut for MPs and Ministers in 2021.
He further stated that the Cabinet approves temporary suspension of MPLAD Fund of MPs during 2020-21 & 2021-22 for managing health& adverse impact of outbreak of COVID19 in India. The consolidated amount of MPLAD Funds for 2 years - Rs 7900 crores - will go to Consolidated Fund of India
Maharashtra Cases Surge To 800+
Maharashtra reported 120 new cases and 7 new deaths taking the total number of cases in the state to 868 and deaths to 52.
India Reports 214 New Cases, 2 Deaths
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's latest update, India now has 4281 positive cases and 2 new deaths of COVID-19 as of April 6, 6 PM.
New cases have been reported from many states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.
Ministry Has Two Action Plans For Containment Of COVID-19
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in a press conference discussed the two types of action plans that they have in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Areas with less cases will follow the cluster containment action plan while areas with a higher number of cases will label it as an outbreak and conduct COVID focused crisis management.
