Stranded Labourers To Be Allowed To Move Within State: Home Ministry
The Home Ministry on April 19, 2020, allowed the movement of migrant labour within a state in buses and issued standard operating procedure for the same, however inter-state movement has not been allowed.
India Crosses 15000 Cases, 500 Deaths
India reported 920 new cases and 19 new deaths taking the total number of cases to 15,712 and deaths to 507.
Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and West Bengal reported new deaths. Uttar Pradesh with 969 cases may join Delhi, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu to have more than 1000 cases.
India Reports 414 New Cases, 8 New Deaths
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported 414 new cases and 8 new deaths raising the total to 14,792 cases and 488 deaths.
New deaths were reported in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.
India's 75% Death Rate Among 60+ Patients
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported that among the 480 deaths in the country, 75.3% of the deaths were of people older than 60 years of age.
Tablighi Jamaat Cases Represent 29% Of Cases
Out o the 14738 cases in India, 4,291 cases (29.8%) are connected to the Tablighi Jammat event from March.
47 Districts Have Not Reported Any New Cases In 14 Days
The Health Ministry stated that 47 districts across 23 states have not reported any new cases in the last 14 days. One district in Puducherry and one district in Karnataka have not reported any new cases in the past 28 days.
One district in Bihar, West Bengal, Haryana each have reported fresh cases after 14 days of no cases
Visa Extension For Foreign Nationals In India
The Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that visas of foreign nationals will be extended to May 3 free of cost.
