An AI generated video is viral with false claims that it shows the making of the world's largest Ganesh idol in Chennai.
The video was originally uploaded by a content creator on Instagram with an AI info label on it. We also ran the video through several AI detection tools which confirmed that it was created using AI.
The Claim
Users shared the viral video with the caption, "The world's largest Ganpati statue in Chennai." Click here and here to see archives. BOOM also received the video on its tipline for verification.
What We Found:
1. AI info label on original post: Upon observation we found that the video has several visual anomalies including distorted and disappearing human figures. Further, the video has a watermark "hoohoocreations80" written on it. We traced it back to the Instagram and YouTube accounts under the same username. We found the viral video was originally uploaded on the accounts on August 23, 2025.
The user has also added an 'AI info' label to the video.
The YouTube channel's bio states that they create videos using artificial intelligence for entertainment purposes.
2. AI Detection tool test: We also divided the 50 seconds long video into approximately 20 seconds long clips and ran them on Hive Moderation, an AI content detection tool. The results from Hive moderation show that the video contains AI-generated content.
