An old video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi bidding farewell to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his 2024 visit to Moscow is being shared on social media with the false claim that it is from the recently concluded Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China.
PM Modi attended the 25th SCO summit on August 31 to September 1, 2025, where he met Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Putin. The two leaders reaffirmed their strategic partnership, discussed trade, energy, and security, and even shared a car ride after the summit. The bilateral meeting between Modi and Putin comes just days after United States President Donald Trump slapped a sweeping 50% tariff on Indian exports over India’s purchase of Russian oil.
The Claim: Video from SCO summit of PM Modi telling President Putin, "If there is anything for me, please let me know."
The 31-seconds video is being shared on X with the caption, "PM Modi to Russian President Vladimir Putin: If there is anything for me, please let me know. #PMModiInChina"
