Why Are Women Activist Groups Attempting To Infiltrate Temples: Sabrimala, Shani Shingnapur And Now Trimbakeshwar

The latest to join the list of temples that women activist groups want to breach is Trimbakeshwar temple in Nashik, Maharashtra. The Bhumata brigade which says it works for equality for women in rural India has decided to enter the inner sanctorum of the Trimbakeshwar temple which is one of the 12 Jyotirlings in India.

Choosing the occasion of Maha Shivratri to resume their campaign, the outfit urged the authorities not to block their effort. The women activists say that the practices banning the entry of women into temples is based on a biased ideology and needs to be done away with if women are to be actually accepted as equals in hindu society.
