What Are the Takeaways From India's Win At Lord's?

The test match win after 28 years against England at Lord's was extra-ordinary, and the Indian team has shown a lot of spunk and spirit, according to cricket expert Ayaz Memon.

      Memon, who also co-hosts BoomNews's show #Cricket-O-Mania

said: "Five players have never been to England. Ishant Sharma coming good is reason for joy. And may be the Anderson-Jadeja 'clash' during the first match could have been the trigger for the performance."

Former Ranji player Anand Yalvigi said that we should not forget the contributions of Pujara and Rahane. "And we should also not forget the captaincy of Dhoni."

Memon also added that it has been a fantastic team effort. "But for Rahane, Jadeja and Kumar, we would never have been in in the match. Calculated gamble by Dhoni with Ishant paid off."

Anand, who has played with Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, said he is well-known for his simplicity. "And he keeps things simple. The best thing about Dhoni is that he is not bothered about what the media says. He takes the flak but gives credit to the team for every victory."

Talking about England's failures, Anand said England's strategy of leadership needs to be questioned. "England could have blooded some youngsters."

Memon said two big guys, Cook/Bell, not getting runs is troubling England. "Change is very much in the offing at England."

Anand pointed out that after the celebrations, the Indian team should not think too much about the victory at Lord's. "India should not become complacent now. And it Will be interesting to watch Dhoni's moves for the next match."

Memon added that the India team needs to ensure that they don't become casual. "You need to be regimented in such a long test series. But the best part is that there is a great deal of momentum in the Indian team now."
