Shivraj Singh Chouhan is an Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the current Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Born on March 5, 1959, in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, Chouhan has served multiple terms as Chief Minister, first taking office in 2005 and continuing to lead the state intermittently since then. He is one of the longest-serving chief ministers in India.

Chouhan is known for his focus on agriculture, social welfare schemes, and rural development in Madhya Pradesh. His flagship programs, such as Ladli Laxmi Yojana (for the welfare of girl children) and Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, have gained recognition for addressing social issues in the state. Under his leadership, Madhya Pradesh has seen significant development in infrastructure, power generation, and agriculture. However, his tenure has also faced criticism, particularly during the Vyapam scam, a massive admission and recruitment scam that came to light during his administration.

Chouhan has been an active member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and has risen through the ranks of the BJP to become one of its most prominent leaders at the state level.

In November 2023, BOOM investigated a viral video that falsely claimed to show Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan interacting with Hindu saints.

BOOM found that the audio in the video had been manipulated, and the voice of Chouhan was overlaid with a fake audio track, making the video misleading.
