Turkey is a transcontinental nation situated primarily in Western Asia, with a small portion in Southeast Europe. Known for its rich history, diverse culture, and strategic geopolitical location, Turkey has been an important player in both European and Middle Eastern affairs. It has a vibrant economy and plays a significant role in global organizations like NATO, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the G20. The country has pursued a more assertive foreign policy in recent years, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has been in power since 2003, first as Prime Minister and later as President from 2014 onwards.

Turkey's political landscape has been marked by strong nationalistic sentiment, along with ongoing debates over democracy, human rights, and economic policies. The ruling party, Justice and Development Party (AKP), led by Erdoğan, has pushed for reforms and infrastructure development while facing criticism over media freedom, judiciary independence, and treatment of opposition parties.

Relations between India and Turkey have been influenced by geopolitical considerations, economic cooperation, and differing stances on international issues. Although both countries engage in trade, there have been diplomatic differences, especially over Kashmir, with Turkey often supporting Pakistan’s stance.
