Misinformation surrounding Sushant Singh Rajput’s death was rampant, with false claims and fake news adding to the confusion and controversy. In July 2020, BOOM fact-checked a viral story in which IANS and Jagran reported that a fake Twitter account impersonating Sushant’s father demanded a CBI probe into his death. The news outlets fell for the fake account, further intensifying misinformation around the case.

BOOM clarified that no such statement was made by Sushant's family on Twitter, debunking the false narrative.
