Sunil Manohar Gavaskar, born on July 10, 1949, is an Indian cricket commentator and former captain of the national cricket team. He represented India and Bombay from 1971 to 1987, earning acknowledgment as one of the greatest opening batsmen in cricket history. Gavaskar is highly regarded for his technique against fast bowling, particularly evident in his impressive average of 65.45 against the formidable West Indies team. He is noted for his captaincy style, leading India to victories in the 1984 Asia Cup and the 1985 World Championship of Cricket.
