South Korea, officially known as the Republic of Korea, is a country located on the southern part of the Korean Peninsula in East Asia. In August 2018, BOOM investigated a viral video that falsely claimed to show North Korean leader Kim Jong Un executing a corrupt officer.

BOOM found that the video was actually an edited version of footage from the Inter-Korean Summit held in April 2018, where Kim Jong Un met South Korean President Moon Jae-in. The video was manipulated to create a false narrative.
