Sourav Ganguly, born on July 8, 1972, in Kolkata, West Bengal, is a former Indian cricketer, captain, and cricket administrator who played a pivotal role in shaping modern Indian cricket. Widely regarded as one of India’s most successful captains, Ganguly is credited with building a competitive team culture, particularly in overseas matches. Under his leadership, India achieved iconic victories, such as the 2002 NatWest Series win and reaching the finals of the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup. Known for his aggressive leadership style and batting prowess, Ganguly retired from international cricket in 2008.

Post-retirement, Ganguly continued his involvement in Indian cricket as an administrator, becoming the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2019.
