Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar, born on April 24, 1973, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, is widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers in history. Nicknamed the "Master Blaster," Tendulkar holds numerous records, including being the highest run-scorer in both Test and One-Day International (ODI) cricket, with over 34,000 international runs and 100 centuries. His illustrious career includes highlights like winning the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, scoring a double century in an ODI in 2010, and becoming the first sportsperson to receive the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, in 2014.

After retiring from international cricket in 2013, Tendulkar has been actively involved in promoting grassroots sports, education, and healthcare initiatives across India. He also served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from 2012 to 2018, focusing on youth and sports development. Despite his retirement, Tendulkar remains a prominent figure in Indian sports and philanthropy.

In December 2018, BOOM fact-checked a viral post claiming that Tendulkar had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accompanied by an image of him in an orange kurta.

BOOM found out that the claim to be false, with sources close to Tendulkar denying any political affiliation. The image was misleadingly used to create the impression of his involvement with the party.
