Ram Navami is a Hindu festival celebrated to honor the birth of Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. BOOM has previously fact-checked misinformation around Ram Navami with old and unrelated videos being shared on social media with false claims.
In April 2022, BOOM had reported communal clashes and several instances of violence and stone pelting that had broken out on Ram Navami.
An old Gansesh Chaturthi video from Mumbai was viral in April 2022 and falsely shared on social media claiming that it was Ram Navami parade
BOOM also debunked an old video that was shared falsely claiming it showed people being arrested after communal clashes during the festival.
In April 2024, we fact-checked a drone footage shot by Ranchi Police which was being shared on social media falsely claiming that it showed Muslims collecting stone on rooftops before Ram Navami. BOOM had reached out to Ranchi Police who dismissed the claim and stated that the stones seen in the footage were for construction purposes and notices were issued to both Hindu and Muslim building owners.
